Take this return scenic cruise from Queenstown to Walter Peak High Country Farm on board the vintage steamship T.S.S. Earnslaw.
During the cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak, enjoy a tour of the ship with a specialist historian. As you cruise you’ll learn about the steamship’s early cargo-carrying days serving the remote farms on the shores of the lake.
On disembarking at Walter Peak, visitors are welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice and taken on a guided tour through the beautifully presented lakeside gardens. Your guide will show you the homestead’s collection of photographs and memorabilia of the pioneering farming families.
Visitors are then taken into the Colonel’s Homestead for a short slide show presentation of the heritage and history of the Walter Peak area.
Then relax in the idyllic rural surroundings and enjoy a hosted tasting of central Otago wines and a cheese tasting, accompanied by an antipasto platter. There is then the opportunity to relax in the lounge or bar and enjoy more wines (additional cost) or wander through the gardens. Afterwards, if time permits, enjoy a shortened farmyard visit before returning on board the TSS Earnslaw to Queenstown.
