This is the premier scenic flight in all of New Zealand. Step out of a helicopter on top of New Zealand & Australia's highest mountain; Aoraki/Mount Cook. There are plenty of photo opportunities as you fly below the peak of the highest mountain in New Zealand, Mt Cook, feeling close enough to touch it. Enjoy increadible scenery from this amazing alpine region near the Tasman Glacier, and see how The Southern Alps divide New Zealand's South Island. Experience a snow landing it and smell the pure mountain air. Take off again and traverse the Southern Alps heading towards the ancient Fox & Franz Josef Glaciers, as they journey slowly down towards the native rainforests and the sea. The helicopter can hover, and land on some of New Zealand's most remote areas, which is the ideal location for sightseeing the towering peaks, crevasse filled glaciers and sparkling waterways right up close. Marvel at the huge expanses of snow at the head of these crevasse-filled rivers of ice, as they journey slowly down towards the Tasman Sea on the wild, wooly, rugged West Coast. Your professional pilot delivers an informative commentary en route. The Helicopters are predominately European AS355 Twin Engine Squirrels (seats 06 passengers plus pilot). These are ideal for scenic flights, with an open plan cabin making for excellent views for all passengers. The Helicopter Line has the highest levels of Civil Aviation Authority certification for scenic helicopter operations, this involves regular monitoring and audit of all aspects of the operations.
