To 'Swim with Dolphins' can be a life changing experience.
To follow that with an exhilarating, refreshing sail on a yacht called 'Lion NZ', would have to be a day to remember. Experience the spectacular Bay of Islands totally "hands on".
First, join our luxury 20m high speed catamaran, designed specifically for the sea conditions of the Bay of Islands area. Swimming with dolphins in their world is a once in a lifetime opportunity and is available for an extra $30NZ, payable on board. There is a fully licensed cash bar onboard and snacksare available. Guides on this tour are some of the most experienced in the Bay and will educate and ensure you get the most from your adventure.
Next is one of New Zealand's largest and fastest commercial sailing yachts, aptly named 'Lion NZ'. Exhilaration is the way to describe sailing on this yacht in the Bay of Islands. Either sit back for the ride, or get fully involved with the operation of the vessel.
Built for the late Sir Peter Blake, 'Lion New Zealand' was his entry in the 1985 / 86 Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race and won the prestigious Sydney to Hobart in 1984. In Sir Peter' s words, "Lion was overbuilt to withstand the rigors of the Southern Ocean bordering Antarctica". She is in superb condition and is proven testimony to Sir Peter's challenge to the race, and the excellence of Kiwi workmanship.
At lunchtime the yacht anchors at one of the many idyllic islands where a traditional kiwi barbeque (often commented on as being the best lunch in the Bay) is provided. Passengers can go ashore and participate in some great island activities, swimming, snorkeling, nature walks, or simply kick back and enjoy the relaxed pace and island atmosphere.
